HOBART.--A motion regarded as a direct attack on thc Premier (Mr. Cosgrove) was defeated at thc annual conference yesterday of thc Tasmanian branch of the A.L.P. Thc Lutana (near Hobart), branch put forward the motion that no A.L.P. member bc considered for endorsement or political appointment after reaching the age of 65.

As far as can bc ascertained Mr. Cosgrove is tho only person in the House of Assembly who would be affected
if such a motion were passed.

The A.L.P. president (Mr. Recce) said the motion was quickly rejected. The Premier's only comment was "We had
some fun with thc 65 business.'*
