Mercury, Tuesday 8 February 1949, page 6

Additional services on the Grove Rd. bus route were sought recently by a deputation which waited on the Commissioner of Transport (Mr. Wilson).

The deputation, which represented the Lutana-Prince of Wales Bay branch . of the A.L.P.. was introduced by Mr. Connolly, M.L.C.

Mr. Connolly said an extra bus in the mornings and afternoons, was needed to convey school children travelling.to the city.

Extra services were also wanted on Saturdays and another on Sundays.

Another request was that the commission erect shelter sheds along the route.

The Commissioner said the question of additional services would be investigated. Regarding those at the weekends, he said it was not a question of buses not being available, but of manpower difficulties. Permanent shelter sheds could not be erected until the new outlet road was completed.
