The Mercury, Sat 20 Dec 1930 - Page 7.

A happy little gathering was held the Lutana Community Hall on Tuesday afternoon, where arrangements had been made by an enthusiastic committee and the director (Miss Tanner) to hold the annual Christmas tree.

The tree was placed in the centre of the hall, and was attractively decorated with toys for the children and many coloured balloons, and round its butt were four small kindergarten chairs laden with gifts which the children had made during the year for their mothers.

The President (Mr. C. R. Baker), in a speech of welcome, introduced Mrs. Howard Buchanan (president of the central committee).

Mrs. Buchanan said she noticed with pleasure the number of parents;-present,
and said it was nice for the different kindergartens to invite members of the other branches to their festive occasions. '

After several suitable Christmas songs had been given by the 56 children present, Father Christmas appeared, and presented all the small folk with their gifts, after which exciting event afternoon tea was served.

The committee were very grateful to Messrs. Brownell for the loan~of~the Father Christmas outfit, as this made the afternoon a real occasion for the little ones.
